She then went on to establish herself further in this business when she finished her Graduate Gemologist qualification under the Gemological Institute of America 3 years after that. A year later, she started her own range called the Gwennie Tam Fine Jewellery.

Gwennie who is of Chinese and Canadian heritage puts into her design her inspiration from the different cultures she had experienced from her background as well as when traveling around the world. Hence, to ensure that her brand remains prestigious and exclusive, her products are unique and are usually limited to only 12 pieces per range. Her range include the normal jewelleries that also include cuff links and men rings which further establishes her as a designer for both the genders. In 2010, she also came out with a luxury pet series which extends her love for animals.
